Foundation Course in Healthcare – Job Description
A Foundation Course in Healthcare prepares candidates with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to begin a career in the healthcare sector. Learners are trained in basic patient care, infection prevention, first aid, hospital safety, communication, and professional ethics. The course equips individuals to support doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centers, nursing homes, home healthcare services, and other healthcare settings.
Key Responsibilities:-
- Assist healthcare professionals in providing basic patient care.
- Support patients with personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and comfort.
- Monitor and report basic patient observations such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure under supervision.
- Follow infection prevention and control protocols to maintain a safe healthcare environment.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in patient care areas.
- Assist in handling, storing, and disposing of biomedical waste according to safety guidelines.
- Prepare patient care areas and basic medical equipment for clinical procedures.
- Provide first aid and respond appropriately to basic medical emergencies until qualified staff arrive.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation as directed.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Adhere to hospital policies, patient confidentiality, and ethical standards.
- Support administrative and operational activities to ensure smooth healthcare service delivery.
