Job Description – General Duty Assistant (HSS/Q5101)
- Assist patients with personal hygiene, grooming, feeding, and mobility
- Monitor and report basic vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure
- Support patients in activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Assist nursing staff and doctors during routine procedures
- Ensure proper bed making, patient positioning, and comfort
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of patient areas
- Follow infection prevention and control guidelines
- Handle and dispose of biomedical waste as per hospital norms
- Transfer patients safely within healthcare facilities
- Maintain basic patient records and report observations
- Respond promptly to patient needs and emergencies
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Follow ethical practices, confidentiality norms, and workplace safety standards
- Hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, diagnostic centers
- Old-age homes, rehabilitation centers, home healthcare settings
- Compassion, empathy, and patient-centric attitude
- Basic healthcare and hygiene knowledge
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow instructions and hospital protocols
- Physical stamina and emotional resilience
- Trained and certified under HSSC / NSDC – General Duty Assistant (HSS/Q5101)
- NSQF-aligned healthcare skill certification preferred
